Looks like an absurd waste of space tbh. Is that like 12 drive throughs?

Yeah, there are at least like 8 or 10 of these in the fairly small city I live in. It’s very much a thing in the midwest U.S. .

And, this is 100% for sure a Sonic location. Those telltale neon-lit notches out of the awning there give it away.

Not too many sonics here, also Midwest. The ones around here shut down because, you know, turns out only operating for a portion of the year doesn’t work super well for multi-region businesses and they never quite figured out how to ice over the parking lot to make it work with ice skates? Because reasons.

But a&w for whatever reason they manage that dynamic just fine? Or at least there are tons of seasonal locations still. But those typically have limited indoor areas and often function most of the year now.

It’s probably a Sonic or something similar. You’d park and order your food via those terminals then they’d deliver it to your car where you’d eat it or take it with you.

I agree, waste of resources. Used to be they’d have servers on skates come take your order from your car, then they’d deliver it to your car when ready. Places like this don’t typically have an indoor place to sit and eat.

Sonic is forever ruined for me because the only one in my home city literally had an open sewage run-off less than 30 feet from the seating area (mine only had two of the pull up spots). Never been able to eat it since I was a teenager

I know someone who won’t eat there because the chocolate lava bites lived up to their name

You have a much better reason.

Chocolate lava yeah, that’s a good name for what was pouring out of those pipes just a few yards away from where food was being served
