    I cannot believe there is an active community for trams, trolleys and streetcars. Humans are the coolest fucking species ever, we’re all so weird and different. I never knew there was a community about these things but I’m deep diving all sorts of cool tram and trolley content now. This is what the internet is the best at. 🥹

      There are also surprisingly active communities for things as niche as e.g. soil science (!soilscience@slrpnk.net), despite Lemmy still being relatively small. Yet I wouldn’t be surprised if there are still some much more “normie” topics (maybe sports or something) whose communities are still dormant or don’t even exist yet at all.

      It’s all a matter of priorities, LOL.

        I absolutely love those niche type of communities. Even stuff I’m not into or whatever, I just love finding out what people are passionate about, you know? People sharing their passions is so infectious. I’ve wanted to do like a podcast or blog series or something for years, interviewing people about niche hobbies and just getting into the nuts and bolts of how they got into it, what they love about it and then about the hobby/subject matter itself.
