Probably because 133F is the forecast and not actually recorded yet. Weather could change and it might not hit 133F

Though I wouldnt be surprised if we do hit 133F in the west coast, everywhere is scorching at the moment

but that’s exactly what is claimed? The title of this post is “highest temperature forecast, not “highest recorded temperature.

Reminds me of a quote from Galactic North (2006) green marking the start of a galaxy-wide disaster (terraforming bots making the galaxy terrifically habitable).

It was impossible for stars to shine green, any more than an ingot of metal could become greenhot if it was raised to a certain temperature. Instead, something was veiling them – staining their light, like coloured glass. Whatever it was stole energy from the stellar spectra at the frequencies of chlorophyll. Stars were shining through curtains of vegetation, like lanterns in a forest. The greenfly machines were turning the Galaxy into a jungle.

Maybe context due to the surrounding area? Seems a lot more likely to be a 1-10° delta instead of a 80° one

84° in SFBA is pretty scary. No one has AC there.

Eh 84 average in the bay really means 72 in SF, 80s and low 90s every where else. Pretty average for the bay.

California is really massive. On a more fun note, some friends did the snowboard in the morning, surf in the evening trips. It’s not an unusual sight to see a snowboard and surfboard mounted next to each other on a car.

I bitch about SF not having real summer bc you can’t wear shorts at night but yesterday I opened the windows around 19:00 to cool off the house and it literally dropped by 30 degrees inside

Wait wtf, how hot does it have to be for you to wear shorts?

I’ll begin wearing them 100% of the time at 50F and 0% at maybe 30F?

And then I’ll have to cower indoors in underwear only at 70F or so, as that’s *too* hot

Hehehe I’m soft, 15 yrs away from NY winters. I used to be able to go out in the cold in my underwear. Now it’ll drop to 55 here but it’s such a different cold, I can’t handle it.

I say sad. Barstow is how you know you’ve made it back to California on a long road trip. You stop for gas and a little break, then get back on the 10 and stay on it until you burst out of the McClure Tunnel onto PCH.

When there’s some new standard for the best way to measure true temperature in fifty years, all of the current figures will be in question. We’re already adjusting old data. Why not compare raw data publicly too?
