Most in the US are already pretty tired of it. I don’t expect it to last another 50 years, but good luck trying to change it now. It still requires a constitutional amendment, and right now, we’re fighting with a party that has half the votes and wants to drag us into a corporatocracy.

Let’s solve that fucking problem first before we move on to constitutional amendments!

Half the electoral votes. The last 2 times they won the popular vote was 2004 and 1984.

I uh. Do you think the democrats are going to get rid of it?

Neither party has any reason to remove the electoral college until it benefits them.

And why must we invent safer sounding terms in place of late stage capitalism.

America is ruled by the bourgeoise and will be for a long time

The American political system is just a riff on a Kakistocracy set up for slavers and genocidal settler landowners. It cannot be reformed into an expression of the people’s will. Not just because of its legacy institutions, but because the actual ruling class - capitalists - will use the myriad avenues by which they control life and consciousness to subvert it, and they have the advantage in this system unless we organize and spread consciousness. Only an organized anti-capitalist movement can deliver the needed changes.
