Edit : So there are 3 main reasons :
- journals are driven by their communities, so to attract more people they relay the informations interesting the largest group of people : so proprietary software news it is!
- talking about libre software is often tied with political engagement. Journalist often don’t want to be put on a political side or another, so talking about libre software is difficult.
- most libre software project just don’t communicate toward journals and journalists. And when they do they don’t soften the speech enough and always blame journalists to much about their own use of proprietary software.
Why is your title in english, while the speech is in francaise?
Because it’s a French conference.
But the video title on YouTube is in French. I think you translated the title to English for the post
Because it’s mostly an English instance.
How would you like it if, from now on, I’d make my post titles in Dutch and the post body in Swedish?
I don’t care because I don’t feel attacked by someone speaking another language than my own.
If you want you can ask for moderation to delete the post, I won’t mind.
I was thinking despite the content in French it might interested English people as well. I’m pretty sure being French isn’t a requirement to speak French…
