        Two different emperors. July is named after Julius Caesar and August is named after Augustus.

            His full name was Gaius Julius Caesar Augustus but he was most commonly called Octavian. He was born Gaius Octavius but when he was named successor to Julius Caesar he adopted Caesar’s name.

              Took me some searching to understand that you were explaining about Augustus being not originally Julius Caesar. I kinda took it that it was the original Julius Caesar that was not named like that at birth 😅

                They’re all super confusingly named. The first 12 have either caesar, augustus, or both as part of their name.
