Old reddit still works, but trends don’t look good.

Sadly the death is near.

Turn on “request desktop site” and that goes away. It’s strictly for mobile users to force more data mining.

That said. Just stop using that fucking shithole, please

Some of the valuable discussions are present there in old threads,

I ended up there from purely organic search results.

I still pop onto Reddit for the same reasons. There’s no point in limiting your ability to work and learn by avoiding Reddit links altogether. Especially if you’re trying to make the internet a better place here, knowledge is helpful

As for the mobile Reddit popups, I added a few ublock origin filters that seem to be helping. See this other post

Absolutely. Often there are no fucking useful search results on Google at all besides Reddit threads

If you use Kagi you can block the entire site and let better results float up.

Reddit has always been one of the most useful sources of information for a very long time. Hell the only sources I could get information for troubleshooting the PC upgrades I’m going through are from Reddit.

And that’s basically all Reddit is for me now, the end result of a Google search looking for specific information.

I doubt that there is much money in a social media started by communists.

He destroyed your head, after that the only goal could possibly be to keep him from making money from doing so.

Like it or not he won.

It’s like 9/11, by every measurable objective the terrorists won.

It sucks to admit but why lie

We also won, for we have gained a new profit-free open source platform that’s currently growing to become the reddit we always wanted.

If you’re using Ublock Origin, you can use their “element zapper” to get rid of it. Also, it took me a minute to figure out, to exit “element zapper” mode on a phone, swipe right twice

You can also just hit the view desktop site button in settings, at least on Firefox.

If you really want to use Reddit, download an old copy of a third-party app (Boost still works) and patch it with ReVanced.

This does not work on iOS due to platform limitations

Sync works too! This is what I do. Unfortunately it’s only a matter of time before reddit/imgur/some other site changes something and the app breaks, but for now the old reddit apps still seem to all be working okay.

Sadly the death is nowhere near. 95% of people will just download the app, which is why these types of walls work.

I still use Boost, when I need something from Reddit. The only workaround I needed was to make a private subreddit.
