I have installed Linux on a dozen computers from crummy laptops to custom build with graphics card. Most went fine. For the graphics card one, I installed popos to avoid learning about internals , but I could have spent time to solve it, I was lazy.

But I recommend having several distros on usb to do tests . That way things are easiest. Some installs have default settings that work best for random computers. So just spend a few minutes on each to test sound, WiFi and graphics. 5 minutes on each to test 10 flavors

When my own feed, free of the algorithm, did not have content of interest. Because I or others took turns shouting into the void. I soon hated them, but many were broadcast to other instances’ front page too. Between them and lack of interaction from people I wanted to hear from, I left

Also, having played hundreds of hours of their games, I would be content with the older game engine as long as there was a good story line, and decent mechanics ( not related to the op topic).

They can make bad games with this engine, for sure , but I do not want them switch out to photo realism to paint over problems .

It seems to my old self that games would be better if they were a bit ugly, and dangly, to not hide behind all that newness and flashy stuff

In all fairness the critics simply have to get high on drugs to see the car as it was meant to be viewed.

I’ve already written off most of the nyt by topics covered. There are still things i like but it’s like mining diamonds in Minecraft. I refuse to look at their front page these days due to Gaza, politics and other issues I have with them

That said , the nyt has been mostly garbage since my great great great grandfather’s generation, and it will continue to suck when grandchildren not born for decades will gripe about it

I’ve no idea how they hacked. But most likely the vulnerability was a mistake the vacuum cleaner manufacturer did, after using second tier software to “save costs”. And they probably skimped on paying the coders, if any

Most likely someone more sophisticated found the exploit, tried to get a bug bounty , was declined by the penny pinching company, and they posted to a place people like your comment inhabit.

I think nobody can really predict who will win until January. Watching polls may help people feel better but this is much more than national polls
