We Distribute needs a lot of help in getting to a healthy place. We need help with writing, editing, social media direction, and A/V production. We also need assistance with securing funding through donations, partnerships, and grants, and need to finish the work in establishing We Distribute Media as a 501c3, which was work we initially started in the beginning of this year.
I think the observer shows daily and monthly stats for the active users per month and active users per half year so the active users per month wouldn’t change as fast I think.
Indeed, I was remembering it wrong, you might be right!
Also about it being a botfarm I do think that is a possibility. Actually there is much clearer evidence for it when you see extend the graph to 120 days and see a huge uptick in users and servers at the same time. Edit: 2024-7-29
Definitely
The Fediobserver has daily and monthly stats for active users. I assume daily indeed follow daily variations. You also saw those huge bumps when LW updated and started counting votes as activity
But, it does not have a dedicated Nostalgia community, it does not have AbruptChaos or anything else. Just the basics.
There’s only so many communities you can maintain active with 45k monthly active users
And I think if more people took on tasks like running the communities while educating people the benefits of the fediverse, then we can see a bit more growth.
Why do you think we don’t?
“We distribute” is a Fediverse website
Well…
That’s my guess to
Sad to hear, hope they’re fine
There are still many topics that I would find interesting to discuss, but that nobody talks about here;
Which ones are those?
If you don’t like politics, block those communities
Otherwise
Which niches were they?
Some like !homebrewing@sopuli.xyz and !homeimprovement@lemmy.world are quite active
!newcommunities@lemmy.world has several threads with different active communities on different topics

Hello,
Are you aware you are replying to a year old comment?
Also, for less modern: https://old.lemmy.world/
Active users are daily too (you have day, week and month counters in the sidebar of all communities)
It should be there, it’s the second graph
But then people would still be able to easily instance switch. That’s not something that is possible for Twitter
I captured the graph with the number after the decrease at the bottom right to try to show the number of lost users, but I see where you come from
Lemmy probably limits those to posts and not comments, and expects comments to have pictures in the comment body
